Shandali Hot Yoga Towel Review

I received this hot yoga towel quickly in the mail and I am happy I did!  I have been taking Bikram or hot yoga off(mostly off) and on for about 4 years.  I recently got back into group practice and I have used this towel every other day for the past 3 weeks.  I normally bring a big beach towel or rent a yoga towel from the studio.  Not having a towel is not an option for me!  I am one of those people that look like a drowned rat after 90 minutes of Bikram torture practice.

When I got the towel in the mail I really liked the soft pink color and liked that it was a match for the picture shown on Amazon.com.  But what I really liked was the size!  This Hot Yoga Towel is really big at 24"x72".  It stretches about an inch over each end of my yoga mat and about a half inch on either side.  Which is great if you are like me and want to try to contain your body and sweat in your personal space.  I feel like my yoga mat and towel are my safe zones when there are dozens of people all around you panting and dripping with sweat themselves.
I found this towel to be better than my beach towel in keeping me from slipping in my poses.  I do find I need to lightly dampen the ends where my feet will be when doing standing poses.  This helps suction my feet to the ground to keep from slipping.  I have to dampen all my towels for Bikram or Vinyasa yoga so I was not surprised that I did the same with this towel. I was able to focus on my pose instead of how to keep my feet from slipping and found that this has allowed for deeper stretches into my poses.  I liked that this towel kept soaking up my sweat and by the end of standing poses was still able to keep my grip.  This does not happen with regular towels for me.

I have washed this towel after every practice(I would think everyone does this) and the color has stayed.  Because I have been using this towel so frequently I have been tossing it in with every load and no matter the wash temp or setting the towel has not bled or faded.  The stitching on the edges has not snagged or frayed at all.  Another plus is that this towel has remained nice and soft  I also like the round Shandali design in the corner.  Finally, because it does not have the grips on the bottom of the towel it can also be used as a bathsheet, blanket, cover, or towel!  So many uses and at a great price of $24.99 you don't have to break the bank to buy one.  Very zen indeed!

I am a big time world traveler.  I like to just get away for 3 or 4 weeks at a time.  I like to mix up budget and higher end travel, but no matter what I always pack light!  You want to have everything packed as small as possible when you are traveling through several countries.  I have been on the lookout for a good travel towel.  I had just never been able to justify the high price associated with them. 

I received the medium size travel towel (24"x 48") as I want anything I use for travel to have many uses(beach cover, towel, blanket for overnight travel).  It arrived quickly.  I also got it in morning sky blue because I did not want to risk leaving it behind while traveling.  Well I have been using this towel for a couple weeks and I am impressed!  Like others have said I was surprised at how lightweight and thin the material is.  I am not disappointed, just surprised.  After the first time I was hooked with this travel towel.  I like that you can just wrap it around each body part and just let it blot and soak up the water.  It is excellent after drying myself I use it to wrap up my hair to help it dry quickly as well.  I have washed it several times and the stitching has held up well.  I am looking forward to taking this backpacking in Thailand soon as every ounce and square inch is precious when backpacking. I have not noticed any smells from the towel after several uses; probably because it drys so darn fast.  I liked that the drying loop is in the middle of one side for easy drying on a hook. I received a free sample from Smiley 360 in exchange for my opinion about this product. This opinion is 100% my own. I really liked that there were two products in one. I used the two sides at different times of the day. The moisture side for daytime and the Renew at night. while I enjoyed the feeling of both sides I wondered why they couldn't be combined into one all powerful lip product. I would have understood if one was SPF for sunlight and the other without, but I guess the two formulas were made for different issues. Both sides seemed to hydrate and protect. Neither side seemed to last more than an hour though so I had to reapply often. I did not get chapped lips as I was applying the Chapstick on a regular basis but I could tell when it was time to reapply when I was outside and my lips would get that tight feeling. The scents for both were nice and light.  

After a couple of weeks with this in my purse I put this by my nightstand and used the renew side before sleep.  I have really noticed a difference when I wake up!  In this dry cool weather I used to wake up with crackly lips but I have been waking up with nice soft kissable kips.  Now if ChapStick could do something for morning breath...

Lootcrate FEAR Unboxing October 2014

As I am delving into the world of subscription boxes and reviews I came across another bloggers review of Lootcrate.  Actually I may have seen a tweet about it.  Don't remember... Well I clicked on something and am so happy that I did.  I purchased this(thanks to that person's affiliate discount code) October crate for my Mr Man.  Lootcrate is a subscription box for mostly gamers in mind.  Each month has a theme that the products are geared around.  Well October 2014 theme was Fear.  The previous years October Lootcrate's items were a lot of zombie themed items so I thought, what the, heck, maybe he will enjoy a few things and at least we will have fun opening it.  I did not tell him where his Halloween gift was coming from because I did not want him to have any spoilers.  Oh man was he surprised.

The first item was a t shirt in his size(you give them the size) that has a large skull on the front.  Okay.  But wait.  That skull is made up of dozens of cats!  Bwahahaha.  Mr. Man was not really into it at first.  But as time wore on he really thought it was funny.  Not wear outside of the house funny but will probably become the t-shirt of choice for watching the Walking Dead.

Next up was some 3D paper glasses, useful later we suspected.

Got the book How to Survive a Sharknado.  I was excited, Mr Man was a bit meh about it.  I thought it was great because we watched it together last summer.  It is a survival manual about how to live through many highly improbable scenarios.  Hey, you can never be too prepared.  Great little reads for a little downtime.

Next we got a little pin with the Lootcrate Fear title.  Moving on
Got a code for some SMITE skins sound pack things.  Apparently a gamer thing.  If someone wants the code just leave a message at the bottom of the page.
Got a Toxic Sour Candy.  Mr Man quote:  "They can't all be winners."

Next up was an art card of two cartoon men with the caption 'Oh Brother'. First real excitement from Mr Man.  This is a Walking Dead cartoon and pretty cool.

We got to the Lootcrate magazine next.  Now we know what the 3D glasses are for.  OH WOW.  Ok that is pretty cool and there is 3D artwork throughout the magazine.

Got some Slashes & Bites temporary tattoos.  These look pretty neat and Mr. Man liked them.

Next big excitement was an exclusive Lootcrate Walking Dead comic book(graphic book?)  Seemed to be a lot of excitement there.

Last was this pretty cool box.  We think from another video game, Dead Rising.  It is this amazing sledgehammer rotating saw weapon pen!  It is really high quality.  Very well made.  Mr Man said he can't wait to show it off.

Well I think this box was a huge success.  Especially as we are not gamers and there was only one small thing(the code) that was specifically for an online game.  I canceled the subscription as I do not think that the other themes are really our thing but I will definitely keep this in mind for next Halloween's gift.

Once again Crowdtap has gone above and beyond my expectations!  I filled out a short survey and was picked to review products that Campbell's has recently introduced.  Now several hundred crowdtappers also got this package so it is not too difficult to be chosen for a sample and share package.  I have also been NOT chosen for some of the sample packages.  I do not get upset because Crowdtap is great about having several opportunities each month for people to try.  What I am saying is that you should try for a couple of months and see what fun items you can review and share. 

Anyhoo.... back to this super awesome Sample box.

OK  now normally when you are given sample opportunities you get, well, sample sizes.  But not this time!  These are all full size products that you would purchase from your local  store.  8 Total full size Campbells products plus some great gifts like the cutting board, wooden spoon, cocktail shaker, and reusable grocery bag.  It is always a smart thing to replace your wooden spoons and all cutting boards periodically for safety so I am pleased with these extras.   I was a little bummed that there was not a bottle of one of the new V8 Splash bottles but they got that covered with a coupon for a free full size product in the coupon/tips/recipe booklet.  I see a spicy Mango V8 Splash cocktail in my near future.

It is almost embarrassing how excited I was.  I can imagine it was the same way I was when I was 6 and getting a lot of Strawberry Shortcake toys for Christmas.... How about we don't do the math to see how old that makes me okay.  Moving on...

So I am finally posting about my first VoxBox I got it free this summer from Influenster. When it arrived I was surprised that I got so many products! It was like a fun late birthday present. Influenster wanted me to try out the products and let them know what I think. Some products wanted to be reviewed on Amazon and I sent a report to Influenster for some of the products.

 The first item that I looked at was the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration after sun lotion. I really liked this product. It was not sticky or slimy going on. The lotion quickly absorbed into my skin. I remember years ago hearing that you should not use a thick lotion after getting sun. I think because it kinda acts like an insulator. Not sure if that is at all true but I always do try for more of a lotion and less of a thick cream for after sun. Well this after sun lotion is nice and smooth, it goes on easily and absorbs quickly. I love the light scent as it reminds me of the sun so it keeps the feeling of being at the beach going. I am not sure about using this for an everyday product but I really enjoyed it for after sun use.

 The next item I tried was the First Aid Shot Therapy Pain Relief. I was not sure of the results. I took it the day after a rough workout that left me super sore. I thought the taste was ok not amazing but definitely not a bad flavor. It seemed to do the trick as my aches were lessened within 20 minutes. I am very glad it worked. I am not sure about the price though. But I would probably get a few if on sale to keep at work.

 I also tried out the Sinful Colors nail polish in Aqua. At first I was unsure if I would like the polish. It goes on a lot thinner than I am used to in nail polishes. But oh my gosh the color lasts! I used three coats and after a week I did not have any chipping. This never happens with my nails. Eventually the polish was wearing off on the ends but that was due to my harsh wear and tear on my hands. I liked the aqua color for summer and it was a great polish for pedicures. I plan on getting some more colors for my hands to wear too.

 I got a coupon for a free at home smoothie kit from Jamba Juice. I really love getting a Jamba Juice but as they are not near my neighborhood I love that they are now at my local Publix to make on my own. I got the Mango-a-go-go to blend at home. I thought the flavor was the same at home that I made as when I go to a Jamba Juice store. I also got a coupon for money off my next one and tried the Caribbean Passion and made an adult version. Still tasty

The last item I received to try for free was the Covergirl Bombshell Curvacious by Lashblast Mascara.  Wow, that was a mouthful.  I am pretty particular with my mascaras as I have the worst trouble with racoon eyes after an hour. This mascara did stay on my lashes so that is great and made me happy. The issues I have are that first the tube is HUGE. I mean really something that I can not throw in my purse or make-up bag. The other problem that I had was my lash tips would brush together and snag every so often. I made sure to put on a light coat but that apparently did not help. I will continue to work on a thinner application as I do like that it does not run.
